The Department Head for Cell Biology and Anatomy will oversee the faculty, staff, post docs and graduate students in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy. The department head will work to advance the educational and research missions of the department and the School of Medicine. Incumbent will report directly to the Dean of the School of Medicine and work closely with leaders in the School of Graduate Studies and the administrators of the LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC). The department head will also work closely with leadership of other LSUHSC schools to ensure appropriate education in cell biology and anatomy for their students. Incumbent will also work with associate and assistant deans in the School of Medicine to ensure high quality educational and research experiences for medical students and to ensure appropriate research opportunities and advancement for the departmental faculty. There are ample opportunities to collaborate with other clinical and basic science department heads and with directors of our multidisciplinary centers of excellence.
PhD MD/PhD or equivalent
Biomedical Science discipline
Ten years of experience on the faculty of a medical school or University, and have obtained rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
Must have achieved distinction in the areas of research, education and/or program administration.
