Job SummaryRecruits and educates potential students about the doctor of medicine (MD) programs offered at the college. Attends graduate fairs, national conferences, and individual school visits. Works directly with undergraduate advisors to assist students with preparing for medical school.
Job Duties- Utilizes all admission systems (AMP, Empower, AMCAS) for the processing of admission inquiries through matriculation for the doctor of medicine (MD) programs offered.
- Assists in the development of MD admissions recruitment plans that support the institutional goals.
- Participates in all aspects of doctorate of medicine (MD) program.
- Weekly contact and outreach with undergraduate advisors and potential Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine students.
- Attend graduate fairs, conferences, open houses, and visit individual colleges and universities to recruit potential students.
- Develop travel plans and coordinate meetings with prospective students and college/university advisors.
- Answer student inquiries and questions, as needed.
- Meet with prospective students for individual recruitment appointments.
- Work closely with the Chief Diversity Officer to ensure the College's diversity mission is included in recruitment efforts, including but not limited to, holding workshops for high school and undergraduate students on how to prepare for careers in medicine.
- Assist with and participate in the execution of MD interview days.
- Assist in the implementation of of all admissions events (interview days, Open Houses, tours and Accepted Student Day).
- Coordinates assigned on-campus events for prospective students.
- Participates in the screening process for applicants to the doctor of medicine (MD) program.
- Participate in the screening process for applicants in the MD program, which includes reviewing admission applications, official transcripts, and other documentation required for completion of file. Reviewing completed applications and providing cursory review through the pre-screening process to determine eligibility for further review by the Admissions Committee. Read and evaluate applicant credentials to determine if candidate should be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Apply holistic review policy to the evaluation of MD applicants. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA policies. Participate in necessary training, including software, holistic review and overview of the MD application process.
- Manages and updates the pre-matriculation pages and social media for accepted doctor of medicine and graduate students.
- Plans and organize regional open houses and campus tours, schedules campus tour dates, individual school visits and appointments in conjunction with the admissions office.
- Coordinate with the Director and Associate Director on developing the communications plans for respective programs.
- Participate in strategic planning efforts for Admissions and Financial Aid and other areas as they relate to students.
- Serves on committees as appointed and prepare reports, proposals and related correspondence as required.
- Attend meetings and trainings, as needed.

Position DetailsA Bachelor's degree, plus a minimum of three-year's relevant experience pertaining to the recruitment and admission processes in higher education arena is required. Advanced interpersonal communication and public speaking skills are required, as well as an understanding of FERPA law. A Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel or Education is preferred. Three to five years of experience in a higher education in admissions is preferred. Expertise in training and leadership development is desirable.
