The incumbent serves as a Physical Therapist, Licensed, at EVAMC consisting of services for acute medicine, intermediate medicine, NHCU, outpatient services, and services in the home. The type of patients or conditions treated may include but are not limited to neurological disease, musculoskeletal disease, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, wound care, and post-surgical care. The Physical Therapist is responsible for his/her own professional development, keeping current with treatment techniques as well as an active and discipline-free license. The therapist is responsible for achieving a passing level for all competencies. The duties include but limited to: The incumbent is responsible for coordination of activities with the Physical Therapy section of the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department to maintain quantity and quality of work production. Work assignments are distributed among the staff. The incumbent is responsible to evaluate patient referrals and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining treatment records as per facility policy. The incumbent is responsible for orientation and in-service of staff members, student interns, and volunteers as assigned. The incumbent is responsible to maintain a safe environment of care in accordance with the Environment of Care Manual. The incumbent is also responsible to have a work order initiated to alleviate an identified unsafe situation. The incumbent is responsible to evaluate and identify disabilities in terms of rehabilitation potential. The incumbent is then responsible to develop a treatment plan to efficiently attain the goals set forth. The incumbent is responsible to participate in interdisciplinary teams for medical services or provide information in the medical record as per facility policy. Incumbent is responsible for provision of data in accordance with the needs for Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation quality improvement monitors. The incumbent provides Physical Therapy evaluation and treatment modalities as necessary. These treatments are applied in accordance to specific patient needs. The incumbent is responsible to develop and restructure the treatment plan to meet patient needs. This includes different and unrelated methods for evaluation and interpreting levels of physical or psychosocial function and to provide progressive treatment to teach new compensating skills and or restore function. The incumbent will also initiate referrals to alternate services in response to patient needs falling outside the scope of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy services. The incumbent provides patient care, which is appropriate to the cultural, cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of the early, middle, or late adulthood patient (age 20 through end of life). The incumbent ensures that any distribution of prosthetic items is done in accordance with prosthetic guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
