At our site in Alconbury near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire we are looking to recruit the company?s Principal Biodegradation Scientist within the Environmental Sciences team.
Please note this can be a hybrid/remote role with travel to a primary site as business requires.
In this operational and customer-facing role, the individual will have overall responsibility for providing strong scientific leadership in delivering solutions to internal and external customers.
Work with Operational Leaders to ensure that Biodegradation studies are performed and reported to high scientific standards in compliance with GLP, A(SP)A and HSE regulations, and within agreed time scales.
The job holder will be the primary interface between Biodegradation Services, Regulatory, Sales and Marketing.
Job Responsibilities will include:
Maintain an awareness of the competitive marketplace for Biodegradation services to include both commercial and service expectations
Lead the identification and implementation of scientific developments required to maintain the Company?s Biodegradation services at the forefront of the industry
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technical, scientific and regulatory developments related to Biodegradation services. This will include regular review of the literature and attending expert meetings and conferences
Work in conjunction with Sales and Marketing in maintaining and developing the Biodegradation reputation to clients
Utilise knowledge and experience to network with other teams within Labcorp, providing training and advice to solve technical issues and support delivery of the best quality scientific products for our customers
To establish and maintain effective working relationships with existing and potential external customers to promote and develop the expertise and services offered by Labcorp in Biodegradation
To work with Sales at on-site and off-site meetings in supporting customer needs and in maintaining and developing the Biodegradation customer base
Help to ensure that the Biodegradation business has a strong external and internal scientific profile, this will include the job holders own participation in Biodegradation conferences and events
Elevate the scientific standing of Labcorp by publishing in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at scientific meetings
Provide robust scientific judgement on the interpretation of study data and the impact on conclusions for reporting or subsequent studies
Develop proposals for bespoke/unusual studies and programmes of work. Leading the scientific review and design whilst contributing to accurate and prompt pricing. Maintaining oversight and delivery of the projects to ensure they are completed with scientific integrity, quality and on time.
Ensure that the ?best science? is provided to customers
Review study data and support scientific staff in the interpretation and communication of results to our customers
Be an advocate for best practice and change in order to improve the product for the client

Skills and experience:
Minimum BSc in Chemistry or equivalent
Extensive experience in the field of Biodegradation with in depth scientific and regulatory knowledge related to Biodegradation
Strong communication, networking and negotiating skills
Objective and logical analytical and reasoning skills
Good commercial and business awareness
Proven project management and customer liaison skills
